The Aravidus from 1571 To 1646 A.D.

"Aliya" Rama Raya, the son-in-law of Krishnadevaraya belongs to this dynasty. Though he was the Regent of Tuluva king Sadasiva, the real power was with him. He was killed in the battle of Rakkasa-Tangadi. After the battle, the capital ceased to exist at Vijayanagara, but the dynasty continued, shifting its capital first to Penukonda, then to Chandragiri and lastly to Vellore. It was one of these last kings at Vellore who gave away Madras to the British.
